Cloud devices generally take 2 to 3 minutes for the initial launch. However, a quick-launch cloud device can be launched much shorter time. If you want to reduce test execution time, please use a quick-launch cloud device.
How to identify a quick-launch cloud device
In the test run settings dialog, when you see the message "This device will be launched quickly" below the Model selection dialog, it is a quick-launch cloud device.
On the other hand, when the message "This version (device) takes some time to launch" appears below the Version (or Model) selection dialog, it is not a quick-launch cloud device.
Quick-launch cloud devices for Android
For Android, quick-launch cloud devices are provided for both arm64-v8a and x86 emulators.
As of February 2025, the following versions and models are quick-launch cloud devices:
- Emulator (arm64-v8a): Version 13.0, Model Pixel 6
- Emulator (x86): Version 11.0, Model Pixel 3
Quick-launch cloud devices for iOS
For iOS, quick-launch cloud devices are provided for each OS version.
As of February 2025, for example, the following versions and models are quick-launch cloud devices:
- Version 18.0: Model iPhone 12
- Version 17.2: Model iPhone 12
Note:
Quick-launch cloud devices are not provided for old minor versions.
For example, version 17.2 is a quick-launch cloud device when paired with iPhone 12, but version 17.0 is not supported as a quick-launch cloud device.
Update of quick-launch cloud devices
Quick-launch cloud device models and versions are updated periodically based on device adoption rates and stability. When changes occur, they are updated to a newer Version/Model than before.
Updates are announced via Release Notes and the MagicPod Community Slack.
However, for iOS, since quick-launch cloud devices are available for each OS version, no announcement is made when a major version is supported (e.g., iOS 18 support begins).
For minor version updates (e.g., iOS 17.0 → 17.2), announcements will be made.
